Who is Jillian Rogdan?
Among other distinctions, “Jilly” is the first volunteer student journalist helping Coastal Lit realize our goal of telling the stories of the Latino communities along the Coastside, in Spanish and English.

Jilly has been a student journalist for several years. Home for her first college summer vacation, Jilly is dividing her “leisure” time among three nonprofits: CLAM, Ayudando Latinos A Soñar (ALAS), and a San Francisco-based religious charity. ALAS’ Founder, Dr. Belinda Hernandez-Arriaga, is guiding Jilly during her journey on the Coastside.

Jilly is the first of what we hope will be many student and professional writers who will be providing bilingual content for CLAM and the Coastside.
Jilly’s local-ish: Burlingame High’s 2018 Valedictorian and copy editor of the Burlingame B. Clearly, she caught the journalism bug in high school, completing a 2017 summer residency at the Medill-Northwestern Journalism Institute in Evanston, IL, and contributing to the Huffington Post for three years before graduating. Now majoring at Tufts University in Medford, MA in International Relations in Spanish, Jilly is Assistant News Editor at The Tufts Daily.
